Nice to meet you.

Since you were wondering …

I believe that there’s no such thing as wasted experience. Each skill I’ve learned in my long, varied career positively impacts every other, no matter how seemingly disconnected.

My experience as a writer means I ensure each software application I work on is driven by a strong narrative thread where the user is the protagonist.

My experience as an editor means I pay attention to the big picture and the details.

When I write about a subject, I consider how the underlying, hidden components affect what’s visible thanks to my knowledge of the inner workings of software & product design.

Thanks to sewing and gardening, I pay attention to how things must be constructed to come together successfully. I work to supply the optimal conditions for growth and thriving — but I can also quickly adapt when those optimal conditions (inevitably) can’t be met.

Even my experience as a parent means I can juggle multiple demands at once, ride the waves of ambiguity with ease, and navigate conflict with diplomatic aplomb — things that come quite in handy when leading globally distributed design teams as an Experience Director.

Otherwise, I'm crafty — and crafty. A world-traveling homegirl. A restless relaxer. A centered space case. I'm solar-powered and love warm places. I’m a lifelong bookworm and a writer, primarily about one of my favorite subjects: food. Originally from New Orleans, I daylight as a UX design director in Austin, Texas, where I live with my husband and son.
